First thing to check is.

If you had the ceiling fluorescent lights on, a bad ballast in one of them will interfere with the communications or inject a lot of AC ripple on the +12 VDC. If they were on try turning them off one at a time and rechecking. When it gets better you’ve found the bad light fixture.

If that's the problem than you'll save a lot of money and headaches.

4 button thermostat

Thanks for the info. The problem was the sensor for the front a/c it had come loose and I had it resoldered and used a can of contact cleaner and lub. and used a can of air to blow every thing dry. Reinstaled and everthing is fine. All the buttons are free now also and work better than when new. Thanks again for the input.
