5.5k Onan code 47....

So I'm getting code 47 now. Will start and run easily in the morning or first start. Can fun for 25-50 minutes then stops with code. Can restart it several times. And always stops within 5-10 minutes. Then I cannot get it to start at all.

Fuel pump and filter is fine. I tested the pump with 12v source. Works fine primes fine .Fuel is filled to top. New air filter, oil filter and oil change. Even did the dipstick fix for the oil just in case.
New spark plugs as well.

Every time code 47. I know what the code is. But I'm trying to figure out what to do to fix this. New circuit panel or magnetos?

Please keep the speculation posts to a minimum.
Really looking for someone who has had this issue and repaired it. Driving across country in a month and really need the Genny to run.

One other thing. While parked is when this happens. When driving I can go 2 hours.

Hi Bobbafett, just wondering if you found a solution? I am having a similar issue on my genset (same model as yours), although mine sometimes runs all day, and other times not at all. Always code 47 though. I have replaced magnetos to no avail. Did you have any luck?

Yes. Had to replace the circuit board. Faulty high temp sensor. When running Gen in winter or driving in winter...no issues. When it got warm out. Had the issues. If you spray the board with computer dust spray on circuit board that is covered in waterproof rubber when code is flashing it will cool it off so the Gen will run.
I forgotten where I purchased but it specifically stated on the website that it correctly fixes the issue I was having.
Drove across country in Sumer and no issues at all
And been using RV most summer up to last weekend without an issue.

Thanks for your help. I guess it’s time for me to replace the control board then! Was hoping this wouldn’t be the case because it’s the most expensive part! But your explanation makes perfect sense. Come to think of it mine only shuts down in hot temperatures.
Thanks again.
