I don't know if I can explain my problem, but I'm going to give it a shot. We have a 39 foot diesel pusher, and have been full time since June. At almost every park that we've stayed I have a hard time getting the 50 amp power cord connected. Since the cord comes down 90 degrees from the "plug" and the receptacle is always right at the bottom of the box, the cord actually interferes with the plug making a connection, the plug can't go all the way in. We're in a park right now where I had to use 30 amp instead of 50 because the plug would only go about half-way in. Since I haven't heard anyone complain about this, I'm thinking maybe I'm missing something???

Never had a problem with ours and the cord comes out at 90° and the end is molded on. In fact I don't remember ever having trouble with any of our 50 amp rigs that we've had since 1998.

Also never had problems with 90* plug.
Most service box's I have found the 50 amp was high enough in box and there was a cutout at bottom of box for cord to dress out.
Maybe a picture of what your running into with 50 amp cord might help.
Your cord does dress downward from plug head correct?

I did have that problem when the coach was new.

The problem however was caused by the stop collar (larger in diameter than the cable) installed on the power cord to prevent the electric reel from taking up the cord and then being stopped by the plug.

Repositioning the stop collar a couple of inches further away from the plug resolved my problem.

I too have never had a problem.. Ever.. the only problem I have ever had with my 50 amp plug is when I use my "Cheater box" (which I can only use in one campground,,, well 2 that I've visited but I did not need it in one of them)

The box has only been used two or three times. And I have to PRY the plug out of the outlet with tools. This is not, really, that much of a problem.

Change the cord end to a straight end. Can be bought at Home Depot.

Okay here are a couple of pictures, I hope this explains it better. Some places have a cut-out for the cord to exit at the bottom of the box, but not all. Am I missing something?/Users/jstbu/Desktop/IMG_0260.jpg/Users/jstbu/Desktop/IMG_0259.jpg

JSTBU,

I ran into that recently somewhere. A different brand male plug may help that. It appears that they used on old box and upgraded to 50 amp.

He could use a 500 lb gorilla to push that plug in but it won't go all the way in. He needs a plug with some offset (good luck finding one) or an inline plug.
