50 amp plugs

I need a male and female 50 amp plugs to make up a power cord. I searched and searched and all I could find were the cheap Camco plastic ones. Looking for a source for the good black ones. Thanks

I assume you're making an extension cord??
I'd look at the home improvement stores. I got a few from Home Depot, good quality too.

I would be surprised to find the RV style plugs/sockets in a home center. The internet will probably get you a good vendor.

You want "NEMA 14-50" spec.

Try McMaster Carr. They are a MRO supplier and carry high quality industrial level materials. Can be found at McMaster-Carr.

gauto 5150 is correct what you want is a 4 wire range male and female
make sure on the type of plug spades as they have two different types.

Not sure of your project but I found that buying a new cord was cheaper that plugs and wire.

That is true. I'm making a 4' jumper.

The best black replacement male plug out there is made by Pass & Seymour. Usually available at Home Depot or Lowes. Cost around $15.

The best replacement female receptacle out there is made by Progressive
Industries. (A house dryer outlet just won't do it!) Cost is around
$20 to $25. Progressiveindustries.net to find where to buy.

Hope this helps.

Hey Clifftall, unfortunately the best ones I've run accross are found at a good rv supplier. They're yellow, made out of a more rubberized material and actually have a hand grip to be able to really get a hold of it when you need to disconnect. They're a little pricey but very good quality. I haven't done it but you might want to try PPL Motorhomes site and see what they might have. I was lucky enough to find them at our local rv dealer back home. Good luck hope you can find the ones that work best for you.

My Home Depot didn't have any. I will try to get a progressive Ind. dealer to sell me the female and continue looking for the male. Thanks
