Is this how typical 30A to 50A adapters work?

Please excuse if this is a newbie(ish) question.

I built my 50A system to split an incoming 240V 50A supply into two 120V circuits. Each is powered by one of the incoming hot leads from the 50A, 240V source. One circuit is the AC, the other circuit is everything else.

30A adapters have 3 poles on the 30A side (obviously) - hot, neutral and ground.

Is the adapter supposed to split that incoming hot lead to supply both hot leads on the 50A female connector?

Simple question, but one 50A to 15A adapter I bought has no continuity from one of the two 50A hot poles to the 30A hot pole.

Trying to avoid buying and returning adapters.

The 30 to 50 amp adaptor does split the single hot out to both 50 amp lines.

OK - thanks. I would assume this is standard for most 30A to 50A adapters, but will verify before I buy.
