Hey Don, I'll give you a call but it won't be before Wednesday (we are visiting our son).
First, I'm assuming you have some A/C and electrical knowledge since you replaced the start cap.
Second, you are going to be amazed at the complexity of getting the right Dometic top units, controllers, and thermostats to work on a Newmar. I have never seen your year (2003) and am assuming your ceiling and units are like mine (top units are attached FROM THE TOP with lag bolts). If I am making a wrong assumption .... stop me right away.
Now the bad part ... a new Dometic Brisk II (note the II designation) does not physically match the ductwork in a Newmar. This will not impact the start/run of the unit but performance is fubar. Save that problem for later.
The Brisk II has a standalone controller in a box. Looks something like this:
What is the P/N on the board inside the box ??
I needs to be the correct P/N to work with a 5-button controller.
The current version of the board (as usually shipped with a Brisk II) works with newest CCC2 thermostat but NOT with a 5-button.
Download the Troubleshooting guides from here:
Service Documents and Manuals
Look for the Service Manual tab and then scroll down and find the A/C stuff and look for the 5-button stuff.
This doesn't address compatibility issues but does have dipswitch info.
