Is it a two zone system? You have to set both zones. You can find the manual for the temperature control online if you don't have one.

The new Brisk II and the new Penguin II require boards/controllers that match your old style 5 - button thermostat. Provide us with the board P/Ns and we can let you know what's going on.

Do you get errors on the thermostat display?

When you say "both units" do you mean neither unit will come on?

Are the top units heat pumps or just A/C?

We need to know ...

1) Did both units work before and both are now failing ?

2) Do you have any error code on the thermostat display ?

malfunction a/c,s

ok lets start over
1. when I bought the 2003 newmar 3778 the rear ac worked but not the front.
2. opened the front a/c and found a burnt start capacitor
3. still no front took to r/v place told me needed a thermostat.
4. so installed a new one .
5. now nothing.
6. went to dometic website and got the dip switch setting for a penquin 2
7. recalibrated thermos and have front a/c but no rear
8. went back to roof and opened rear and found that it has 8 dipswitches in lieu of the 10 that the front has .

9. now in lies the problem ,no fault codes in thermostat and what do I do to make this back a/c work

Hey Don, I'll give you a call but it won't be before Wednesday (we are visiting our son).

First, I'm assuming you have some A/C and electrical knowledge since you replaced the start cap.

Second, you are going to be amazed at the complexity of getting the right Dometic top units, controllers, and thermostats to work on a Newmar. I have never seen your year (2003) and am assuming your ceiling and units are like mine (top units are attached FROM THE TOP with lag bolts). If I am making a wrong assumption .... stop me right away.

Now the bad part ... a new Dometic Brisk II (note the II designation) does not physically match the ductwork in a Newmar. This will not impact the start/run of the unit but performance is fubar. Save that problem for later.

The Brisk II has a standalone controller in a box. Looks something like this:

What is the P/N on the board inside the box ??
I needs to be the correct P/N to work with a 5-button controller.
The current version of the board (as usually shipped with a Brisk II) works with newest CCC2 thermostat but NOT with a 5-button.

Download the Troubleshooting guides from here:
Service Documents and Manuals

Look for the Service Manual tab and then scroll down and find the A/C stuff and look for the 5-button stuff.

This doesn't address compatibility issues but does have dipswitch info.

Sorry .... been kinda' hectic (washer and dryer parts and a hydro-hot leak). Here's a pic of the 8 switch board. Still need you to post part numbers of both boards in your A/C units and pictures would be good. Zone 1 is normally the front unit and is set with Zone 2, 3, and 4 in the OFF position. Zone 2 would have the Zone 2 switch set to ON.
