Hello, I have a 03 pace arrow. The front a/c will buz when turned on, I can spin the fan and it will run. Then it sheds back and forth and the black box makes a clicking sound. I have replaced the blower motor and installed a new hard start kit and nothing helps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello powdercoater and . We are glad to have you join us here and look forward to reading of your adventures and experiences. I am sure you will enjoy the website and forums. Good luck, stay safe and keep us posted.
If the humming is from the fan motor, when you replaced it, did you replace the fan motor capacitor? What is the voltage at the air conditioner when it is trying to run? If you will provide us with the make and model of the unit we might be able to help with some technical info.

Yes, the humming is from the motor, it acts like it wants to start but it won't. I can spin the blower just a little and it will start. after it starts it sheds a lot then it will start working fine. I installed a new blower motor and a hard start kit from PPL RV in Houston. The old one did the same thing. It is a Coleman Mach a/c. I don't know the voltage but I will check. Thanks

Does the motor have a start capacitor? If it does then that is the problem. The are used to get the motor spinning on startup

Normally the hard start kit only changes the Start Cap for the compressor. There should be a totally separate fan capacitor. Did you change that also? I don't have a wiring diagram of your unit but most roof AC units have three capacitors.....Fan Cap, Compressor Run Cap and Compressor Start Cap.

The capacitor for the fan is a run capacitor,m usually in the range of 5 to 10 mfd. Most are 7.5 mfd. I always change the fan capacitor when replacing the motor; even if it test good with my capacitor tester. Find the size printed on the cap and you can get one from appliance and/or HVAC supply stores.

You guys are good. That was it, replaced the fan cap and it ran great. After a new motor and hard start kit and & $200.00 all it needed was a $2.00 cap. It should be good for a while. Thank you RV Wiz and mike.
