I have them on "auto" - usually when inside temp reaches whatever temp I have them set for, 78 for example, they shut off. Inside temp says 79 and I have put the desired temp on a/c thermostat to 82 and they won't turn off. Both units are doing this. Yes, they are set to "auto." Suggestions?

Try turning the thermostat to "OFF" for 5 minutes, then back "ON". Anything with a microprocessor (almost everything these days) sometimes needs a reboot.

Please supply us with the make and model of the air conditioner units and thermostat(s). Do you have one thermostat or two?
