A new RV Air Conditioner

As I was lying in bed listening to the three jet engines on my roof cycle on and off, a thought occurred to me. I have a Mitsubishi Mr Slim AC unit in our pool house and it is practically silent while operating, both inside and outside. They make an outside unit that will supply up to five inside units so why couldn't a unit be developed with the outside unit configured in the basement and the required interior units still on the roof in each zone. I think they would corner the market, especially in Motorhomes. Just thinking out loud.

Check YouTube. Several people are already installing split systems in their RV's. If my noisy roof AC's ever quit I'll be converting to a Mini Split. The outside unit ends up on a bracket off the back of the RV and the inside units can either be the wall mounted boxes or, as I found out, they make an in ceiling unit that can be put in place of the old roof top AC units. It will even hook up to the existing duct work. All the piping can go inside the back cap, across the roof and into the ceiling unit.

You might also look at the offerings from Atwood http://www.atwoodmobile.com/images/a...s-brochure.pdf I think they bought the rights to sell these Australian developed air conditioners in the US a few years ago.

The Atwood is called the Air Command. Purchased one, installed it. I must say on low very quite, then medium and then Hi. 15KBTU one equals 18KBTU's. I love it

I’ve been wondering if anyone has installed a mini-split hvac. Seems like the manufacturers should jump on that solution as the roof mount ones are way too noisy (and not that effiecient).
