AGM vs Lead Acid Batteries

Has anyone used Trojan Reliant T105-AGM Batteries? I'm currently using Interstate lead acid batteries and am considering switching to AGM sealed batteries. The debate is cost vs maintenance convenience and life?

Appreciate any thoughts and experience.

Here is the bible on batteries for your consideration. I personally use
AGM's for the elimination of maintenance, zero corrosion in the
compartment, and longer life.

I don't have the T105 AGMs, but use 4x Trojan 31AGM 12v batteries in our coach. Will start their 8th year in May, so am happy with them.

AGMs are excellent for maintenance free operation. No mist of acidic water, no corroded battery terminals, and no rust. I have zero corrosion anywhere in my battery bay after 12+ years.

Non-AGM 6v GC2 (golf cart) batteries will last as long or longer than AGMs, but of course require periodic maintenance, e.g. adding water. The amount of misting and corrosion will vary, though, depending on the sophistication of the charging system and the care & cleaning of the battery compartment.

Be aware that you can get 6v AGMs from other sources besides Trojan. Concord/Lifeline also make an excellent one, and Sam's Club (maybe Costco too?) offer their private label batteries in a 6v AGM. I've seen 6V AGMs from Optima and various private labels as well. Most of the private label 6v AGMs will be made by US Battery, probably the largest producer of golf cart batteries in the USA and supplier of many of the private label brands of golf cart 6v's. Including the Interstate 6v you now have.

I'm running 8 Trojan 31-AGM's at 100 AMP each. Love them, no maintenance or corrosion. With so many other things to monitor on the coach, it's great to have one less thing to worry about. Just make sure you've set your charger up for AGM's.

Thanks..There's quit a story behind this battery arrangement. Went to Decatur (Fleetwood Service facility across town from the assembly plant) for warranty work after Navistar sold HR and Monaco. Great service but one of my 4 large wet 6 volt batteries was cracked and on B/O. Rather than waiting they built trays and put in the 8 AGM batteries. Great service.

Thank you all for the experiences and insight. I believe I will be on the hunt for a set of AGM batteries to replace my current set.

You will need to shop around, I purchased Lifeline 6volt GPL-4CTs
for $ 303.00 and the GPL-3100T Starting for $300.00
The Trojan AGM T-105's were quoted at 249.00, Deka
Intimidators AGM
in the GC2 size were 239.00. I refuse to buy Chinese ones, so
do be careful shopping, when you buy cheap, you get cheap.

I purchased four Fullriver DC220-6 Group 27 AGM batteries, yes made in China. These are very competitive with Lifeline. They are less expensive and have a better warranty. Mariners love them.
