I'm looking for a portable air compressor for the tires on my 5er and truck. Theres a ton of compressors out there. I'm looking for one that wont take a lot of time to inflate a tire and I can put away easily in the basement.

Go to a 4 X $ store and look at the 12V ones they have. Won't be cheap ($200-$300) but they do a good job. Some are made for a 100% duty cycle, but not all.
I bought a 120 volt tank type at Lowes for about $100, slower but it works for me. I wouldn't want to fully inflate a 305/70 22.5 with it though.

I bought a Porter Cable 150 psi pancake from Home Depot. They had it on sale for $50 and when I checked out they gave me $50 for opening an account. I like FREE . It is a very good unit for topping off tires and holds pressure for several weeks. Unlike my expensive Craftsman that will not hold pressure overnight. I mounted a 25 ft air hose on a reel beside the aircompressor and installed a 120 vac plug in the storage bay for the compressor. I can if needed remove the compressor from the basement since it is not mounted. But for the MH tires I just turn it on and pull out the hose.

Have you considered running an on-board air compressor? From the sounds of it you are looking for a 120 volt home compressor but just thought I would ask.

If you are interested in a dc compressor I would suggest looking at Viair compressors. Many are 100% duty cycle, very reliable and very compact. You could mount this on you 5th wheel or even your tow pig and you would then just need to carry a hose instead of a 50 lb compressor. You wouldn't have to run a tank but if you wanted you could get away with just a 1 gallon.

I 'm thinking of the porter cable unit. I have one for the car but it just takes forever. So I thought I'd switch speed and look for a portable unit I could plug into the 5er...Thanks for the info

Sears has a new Craftsman 120V portable compressor, model 15309 for $99. Looks like a small shop vac. It's about 25# and is 150psi max. The CFM rating is 2.0 SCFM at 90psi. That is higher than most of the pancake compressors. It is currently on my unfunded list, but due to move up real soon.
