All I need to do is_

All I need to do is run 1 LED TV , and a Dish DVR or DVR on 120 V A/C when boondocking with our small TT. Thinking of just a low cost 400W inverter (400 w covers way more than I would use at 1 time).Everything else is 12V D/C.
Any thoughts ?
Anyone doing it now?

You need to check and see about the startup watts, it could be higher than 400. Others have tried that and ended up buying a larger inverter. Also, you may want to get a SW inverter, not a modifed sine wave.

400 watts is approximately 3.5 amps. I don't think it is large enough.

400w is plenty. I run a 28 & 32 inch LCD tv and 2 Dish DVRs on a 400w inverter witbout any problems. You might want to invest in a full sinewave inverter. Some equipment doesn't like MSW inverters. I had a LCD TV that didn't like it.

The built in inverter for the CRT television and entertainment center in my coach is 400 watts and the new LCD sets use much less power so you have a good chance as long as the MSW does not cause the set to run hot and such.

400 watts is plenty for your intended use.
You will have to run large gauge wire (probably 8 AWG) from the battery to the inverter. You won't get 400 watts through a cigarette lighter outlet.

If you have not purchased the tv yet STOP!

Past panels used either 120 volts into the set or a 18 VDC adaptor to operate the back light.

New sets use LED for back light, so most still have a 120 VAC cord, but there also are some with native 12VDC power and a 12VDC adaptor.

Finding one of those removes the load from inverter.

Then just dvd player or sat receiver.

We installed 12 volt panels, then made plug and play ATS for the 12 VDC power using additional parts from local supply house so the original cords are virgin, the adaptor plugs into a jack that powers a relay that controls power connection to set via new plug.

When on battery tv connected to battery, when shore power present adaptor turns relay on to switch power to the adaptor and not use battery.
