Alternator charging house batteries

With all the converter failures in my model FW , I was wondering if the engine alternator
would charge the house batteries if the converter died. In the few days it takes
to replace the converter the batteries would be too low to run any appliances
that rely on 12v for the circut board. Therefore can you the run your engine to keep the house batteries charged. My FW Bounders Converter charges both the chassis and house batteries.

In most cases the answer is yes but it takes a long time.

If your converter charges both coach and chassis batteries then I would think you have a B.I.R.D. which allows that to happen. Yes, the alternator should charge the house batteries.

What model converter are you having trouble with and what are you thinking about replacing it with?

I have. WFCO 65. . No trouble yet , but I know a lot of people who did. When the time comes I will replace with a pd9260 or 70.
