Alternator Light / Generator

I just bought a 2003 HR Neptune from a private party.

When I was testing the systems the Alternator light came on
when the Generator was started. It blinked and bussed after the Gen had been running a few minutes. Turned the Gen off and alt. light went off.

Have not tried it again. All other electrical systems seem to work fine.
The chassis batteries are NEW.

Any Ideas on what to check?

Thanks for any help.

Lannas

Lannas, I'll take a whack at this. You can have new batteries that may be discharged or one battery possibly may not be taking a charge if it has a bad cell. Be 100% sure about your batteries before you proceed any further. Perhaps use a seperate battery charger on shore power and change up the chassis batteries for a few hours and then check it again.

Why would Alt Light come on only when Generator was started??
It was OK before Gen was started?
