Am I expecting too much from a gas refer?

Actually I'm pretty good at gas refers but I'm looking for some input here.

I have an old unit (1978 Elixer) but it runs well except that right now it's showing 59 degrees in the food box. The sun is out here in Houston, right on the refer side of the TT. Inside the TT it is 104, the outside wall of the TT covering the refer in the direct sun is 148, the air inlet grill is 108 showing that the two fans on top pulling air out of the flue are working well, (80+ CFM) pulling 96 degree air into the flue to cool the pipes.

Any ideas ?

Absorption RV fridges , don't do well when the air temp reaches 100 f.
Shade the lower vent if you can, awning? , or see about moving sites to put the lower vent on the north or east, side of the coach.
