Amish refrig cooling coil
Our Dometic 1062 refrigerator finally died and I'm considering installing a replacement cooling coil made by The Amish Refrigerator Company. Has anyone installed such a unit and are you happy with it's performance?
Which did you install: the remanufactured unit or the new unit?
Thanks for any information.

I have not installed one, but I have read many posts on this forum about people who were very happy. Maybe some will respond and give you more information.

Most folks report good results with them. Do a search on the iRV2 "Systems and Appliances" forum. There are so many threads there on this subject that it'll keep you up for many nights doing the reading.

We installed a new Amish unit and love it. Cools better and ice cream is actually fully frozen now.

Some time back I watched a You Tube video on how to replace the old unit with an Amish unit.. Looked like something I could do..

I have not used an Amish unit; However, I had the Norcold 1200 go out (in previous RV) the first few months. The RV appliance guy came out from somewhere in Texas and he seemed very reliable to me and no vested interest. He has installed several of the amish units and he spoke very highly of them - convinced me for sure if we have another problem. Now we have the single door Norcold and like it much better than the 1200 and hope it will last awhile. But he said if out of warranty he would use an Amish unit for sure and he said he has never had to re-do an install of the amish units.

A "rebuilt unit" is just that, same old unit with a few added years before the problems start again! Get the NEW Amish unit!!
We've done 2 of the Norcold 1200's and found it didn't take an MIT graduate. Our only problem was the 220 lb. empty weight and 4 doors to remove. You will not have that problem. Take pictures or label all electric wires....
You may want to consider new fans and electric heating elements - we even replaced the circuit board.
