Analog to digital conversion for Dometic.

Hi
Having fun headed west from S FL towards Nevada. Ran into some problems with our 2 yr old Dometic Brisk Air II 1500. Actually it was the thermostat. When the AC was replaced they used the old analog thermo and the control box. Dometic tech said the Analog thermo was almost certainly the problem and they were no longer made. He said that a new Dometic Digital which comes as a kit with the replacement board for the AC would fix it. He said that it was practically plug and play and I could use the old wiring. I stoped at an RV place and bought the kit.
The instructions that he emailed me only mentioned 7 wires to connect to the new board module. One is a new 12v feed that I have to fish from the converter. It also does not mention the furnace which I need to use. I see that there are 13 tires going to the old box not including the power and the freeze sensor.
Does anybody know if there is already a 12v feed up there I can use? Does anyone know if there is a more comprehensive guide to doing this swap? I know that some of those wired up there are for the furnace relay. Will they work with the new thermo?

Sorry to take so long to get back. No wifi at the last 2 Wally's. Thanks for the replies. The 12v that I need would be up in the AC hole in the ceiling and feeds the board up there. I hope to install the digital instead of the current one to cut down on the temperature swings. If worse comes to worse I can do the cheap "Hunter" conversion and just return the Dometic that I bought or have a pro install.

I agree that the temperature swings could be the old thermostat, but I see no reason to pay Dometic's prices for their thermostat and board. What you call the "Hunter fix" will replace the thermostat with one that is just as reliable as anything Dometic wants to sell you.

Furthermore, today's thermostats are much better than the Hunter that was used in the posts on this forum years ago. I replaced my Dometic thermostats with Honeywell ones (~$30 each) that don't even require a 24V input--the run for a year or more entirely off of two AAA batteries. The only aspect of the "Hunter conversion" that was a kluge was the fact that there was no way to provide 24V to the device so it was always running on its batteries. With the thermostats no longer requiring 24V that issue no longer exists.
