Any water softener Guru's out there?
I have a 21000 grain softener, and have been researching if you are possible to reuse the brine water? (to no avail)
I have a five gallon bucket that I make about four gallons of brine in, and then use a large funnel to pour in my brine. The effluent that is coming out, I have been catching in another bucket, and returning it to my brine bucket.
Will this cause issues with regeneration? Possible mineral saturation? Or will this work properly?
I hate to send brine down the sewer, I know it can have negative effects on septic systems.

You don't want to reuse it.
When you recharge it. You are exchanging ions between the salt and the media.
if it actually worked that way, they would sell a second tank and you would never need to add salt.

What about using a small low flow pump to circulate the brine in a reverse flow to recharge? Would that enhance the recharging process?
I will start using fresh tap water for my brine bucket.

Bottom line is you need to soak the media in salt brine to allow the recharge for the ion exchange.
If you used a pump, it would only be to fill the canister with brine, then let it soak.
On mine, I disconnect the line from my hose reel and connect a funnel.
I also have a drain line on the output side of the softener (3 way valve)
I dissolve the salt, then pour in the brine and let it soak.
Reconnect the hose reel, and flush with city water.
Many options for recharging.

It is also a good practice to back flush the ion bead bed before you do a slat brine recharge. The back flush will "fluff" the beads and let the ion exchange do a better job.
The salt brine cannot be reused as it is spent after one use.

Maybe y'all are more advanced than me but I just follow the instructions... disconnect the hoses, open the top, dump out enough water to make sufficient room for the salt and dump in the salt. For good measure, I give the tank a few shakes over the 30 minutes or so to mix it up before flushing out the salt.
It would seem to me that, to add more water by making a brine, you are diluting the salt ahead of time and, thereby, reducing the effectiveness of the salt.

Your doing it right
But I have my unit mounted in one of my small bays, and don't want to remove it to recharge. I don't have enough access to pour in the salt.
Making the brine in a bucket, and pouring it in the input line, will just displace the water that is in the unit. My first time I actually added food color to the brine so I could confirm when clear water stopped and the brine started coming out the drain.

Ah, I see now. Thanks for the clarification. Just as I suspected... you're about two steps ahead of me. I have refrained from mounting mine for exactly that reason. Yours is prettier, I'm sure.

Make a brine slurry with 1.5 LB of table salt in a gallon jug using 1/2 gallon of water. Turn the water softener upside down and drain the water out. Shake the jug and pour some into the softener. Keep shaking and pouring. Rinse the remaining salt out and nearly fill the softener. Replace the cap and close both ports. lay the softener on its side and gently roll to mix the solution.set up right and wait. I usually roll it a few times and wait a couple of hours.
Flush the unit with fresh water and place into service.
The 1.5 LB of salt needs to be mixed with the water and distributed through out the softener. Putting it in as a brine/slurry works better than trying to pour salt into the little hole.
The instructions with the RV10000 unit stink.
