I don't have one but that looks like a good solution. Much better to test and be sure than to damage your "Precious" RV just because someone didn't tell they electrician the right instructions. yes?

No, but reading the specs the product appears like a fair value. I never plug our coach in w/o checking the pedestal. For an extra $150.00 you can purchase Progressive industries energy management system. It checks all of the above plus acts as a surge protector, manages low voltage, high, and shuts off the shore power if a brown out occurs. I have a hard wired EMS with the bus but also use the portable EMS at the pedestal. Can't be too careful IMHO!

I sometimes use a volt meter to duplicate it's functions, but then I know how.. Though it is a good idea and I would recommend that as the MINIMUM test you should run... I would like to see more park technicians carry one as well.

EMS-PT50C

That is the one you should consider, or it's hard wired brother.

It may test good right now, then develop a problem an hour from now that blows all the electrical equipment in your RV!

It says it detects high and low voltage. BUT you need to have the unit shut down when this happens not just detect it.

I made my own 50 amp tester for about $60 in parts. I also have permanent protection installed.

I used these plans: http://www.myrv.us/electric/pg/tester_50amp.htm

UFO's system is a good one but if you buy something like this Surge Guard RV Power Protection | Technology Research Corporation
it will do everything that what you are looking at and more. It can be installed permanently and solve all your problems. You want to cure the problems before they get to your coach.

Can't be lost , dropped or borrowed and not returned.

CW had them on sale, 2 weeks ago for $80, less than what I paid.

I'm aware of that , particularly when 4 others in the park had power " issues " last winter.

Recently left a park where we kept having our hard wired system shut us down. The owner was quick to diagnose the problem as being outside the park. He called the local power co. and they sent out a crew to fix the problem. BUT, I didn't know that I was opening up a whole can of worms. They had to shut power down not only to the park, but the surrounding neighborhood. Took them over 3 hrs. to take care of the problem. Surprising that no-one else had ever complained.
