Anyone use an Insinkerator Instead of a Macerator pump
Just wondering if anyone on here has done it and what did you use? I've been tossing around the idea because of the convenience of being able to dump at home. My reason for the Insinkerator is because it's 110V instead of 12V and it should empty the tanks faster as well as being cheaper.

Add up all of the costs to gather up the fittings, clamps, cords and adaptors, and then compare it to the cost of the ready built one, before you do this.

I can buy the Insinkerator for under $300 Cdn. which comes with a cord installed and I can use one of my hoses that I have now for dumping the tanks to go from the valve to the pump.
The only thing I can see I need to buy is an adapter to go to the garden hose which I might even have in my pile of stuff in the garage. Am I missing something else? Even if it costs the same I like the idea of 110V and will only be using when I need to dump at home.

Be sure to use a GFCI outlet with it.

Thanks twinboat, that's a better deal then the other 12V ones I was looking and ready to go. I don't really have to use one with more hp which is one of the reasons I was looking into the 110V ones and I guess with the 12V one I could use it anywhere if I needed.

If you check on YouTube you will find several videos on the of using the Insinkerator.
Some quite elaborate. I like the one using a rubber coupler to a flange fitting that connects to standard RV drain hoses.

i hear you, I'm only looking at doing it for the convenience. I'm looking at a new place and there are no dump stations close by,we dry camp a lot so if I can't find a place to dump on the way home I will need to go a minimum of a 1/2 hour each way to dump.

I use this exact model and it works great
Yes you have to by some fittings for it to work with a garden hose
Less then 10$
I pump 100 ft up about a 2 foot grade no problem

I don't know what the exchange rate is between here and there but Lowes and Home Depot have insinkerators for a whole lot less than $300. These setups have been discussed before and the guys who have to pump uphill or long distances really like them. If I could get tapped into my septic system I would put an insinkerator type system together.
If you have a generator on board you should not have a problem getting 110 to run it.

I've used an old 12v marine macerator from my sailboat for years but it's pretty slow and is starting to leak a little (admittedly it's old), but it did the job. I've wondered if a 120v garbage disposal based rig might be more powerful and faster. I know that there are many models are available for $69 and up so comparative cost shouldn't be an issue. My guess is that it would be faster.
Now that I have a MH with a generator, 12v isn't an issue and my primary use is to pump uphill from my driveway to my sewer clean-out at home.
