We have a 2000 Monaco Dynasty with Aqua Hot. We have the electrical element on all the time. It provides hot water and some heat. Prior to taking a shower I turn on the Aqua Hot diesel switch. It does not start right away, because I am sure that it senses that the water is hot and it doesn't have to kick in yet. Well, my wife starts a shower. I hear the diesel Aqua Hot kick in. Minutes later, I hear my wife yelling that she has run out of hot water. She jumps out and starts drying off. At that point, I turn on the faucet (diesel is still running), and magic it has hot water. I don't have the vocabulary to describe the look that she is giving me at this time. So, does anyone know how I can manage this water situation? Is there something I can adjust that would kick on the diesel faster?

Pat

First off, why are you turning the diesel on and off? Why not leave it on all of the time, I do. I also leave the electric assist on all of the time.

When the hot water is getting low in temp due to use and the electric assist can't keep up the demand, the diesel burner will kick on and provide all of the hot water you will need immediately.

There may be a problem with one of your thermostats but Roger Berke, moderator of the HydronicHeating discussion forum would be a better person to answer your question.

He's available at HydronicRVHeating : Hydronic-RV-Heating

Probably because the water is soooooooooo cold in GM. When we worked at Grand Portage I just turned the diesel on and left it there. Always had hot water. The cold is just soooooo cold it takes a few minutes to catch up.

That sometimes happens to us too. If we are going to take showers, and it's cold enouth outside to have the heater running, I make sure and run enough hot water out of the tap to make the aqua hot kick on before I start the shower. That seems to work fine, especially if I stop running the water for a minute to "soap up". Steve

Thank you all. I have just started leaving the diesel switch on all the time. I am starting to appreciate the fact that it will only kick in when the electric element cannot meet the demand. I like the idea of turning on the hot water faucet to get the diesel to kick in before the shower.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

I agree with everyone. I leave the diesel burner on and never have a problem
