Atwood 6 gal water heater ( gas only)

The pilot lights ok , when ON is selected the pilot goes OUT and the unit fails to ignite.
The heater was working OK until a night of high winds blew the pilot light OUT and the gas valve failed completely...
Have followed relight instructions , have gas , etc..
Is there a reset or is it time for a replacement gas valve,,, Thanks

You may only need to clean the ceramic sensor that's in the pilot flame with a cleaning rag. The sensor is not detecting your flame.

You may have low LP gas pressure. Try closing the LP tank valve(s) and slowly reopen. Be absolutely sure you have plenty of LP as well. If the pilot is working but is extinguished the valve is ok but the fuel and/or pressure are suspect. You could cheat a little by having a long lighter and flame at the burner when you turn the valve to the "On" position. If there is gas to the valve for the pilot to burn the main burner should ignite.

Check the pilot thermocouple to make sure it's working properly. It fails and you'll have the problem you describe. It's much cheaper and easier to replace than the valve. I'm in the process of replacing a valve now. The manual is here: http://bryantrv.com/docs.html , it has a troubleshooting guide.
