I have a 8500 series ( 8535 IV ) Atwood furnace that the fan cycles on and it makes a clicking noise. After three cycles it does nothing. it also does not ignite. I haven't tried to use it in three months.
Has anyone else had this problem and can tell me what to do? Do I just need to find an Atwood dealer?

Be sure your LP gas protector is on . You could also have air in your lines. Try lighting your stove burners before trying to troubleshoot further.

The stove and hotwater heater both work. What is the gas protector?

I had the same problem with my Atwood 8500 series furnace last winter. Finally in exasperation, I got a new circuit board and that cured it. A few weeks later, the other one did the same thing, and I did the same thing, and now they both work like they should.
Not saying that is your cure, but if you pull the board out(5 minutes max.) and take it to a reputable repair facility that has a tester, that will prove whether it is faulty or not.

I was looking at the circuit board today. I will take it off tomorrow and go to one of the two authorized Atwood Dealers on Monday. It's quite a distance but better than driving the motorhome there and back. Thanks for the help.

If your stove & heater is working , your lp gas protector is on. It should be mounted near the floor and is usually in the kitchen area. C heck all of your electrical connectors to your furnace and be sure your circuit breaker for your furnace is on. You may have a 12 volt fuse that needs replacing. I would also be sure that you don't have any nests or obstructions in your gas burner. When all else fails, check your service manual and call for assistance.

You really don't need to go to an Atwood dealer. The first one I went to was an independent consignment dealer and he sold me a generic(Dinasour brand). He also had a board checker and checked both of mine. The generic board worked just fine and was about 30-40% cheaper. If I remember correctly it was about $90 compared to $125 for the OEM one, but don't quote me on the price.

The furnace is going into "lock out" since it did not ignite in the three attempts built into the board. I would recommend a qualified person remove the furnace and clean the burner, fuel orifice and igniter. Then bench test the unit to insure proper operation. When the unit is re-installed a leak test should be performed to verify there is no gas leak at the connection of gas line to the furnace. I would also check the LP gas regulator for proper pressure under the load of at least the furnace if not it and all the stove burners being on as well. You probably have debris like a mud dobber or wasp nest interfering with air flow. I is also possible that the igniter has carbon on the tip, the burner is rusty, dirty or even burned out. Good luck and keep us posted.

Did you find your problem? My Atwood 8535-III is doing almost the same thing. On mine however, the fan stays on after trying to light. I can hear the burner fire up but, then it just goes out.
