Atwood Furnace issue - 8900 III

All - went camping over the weekend and need to use the heat for the first time since owning the 2015 Tracer Air. The furnace comes on and heats the cabin just fine. However, when it reaches temp or i turn it off at the thermostat, the furnace shuts down and starts a repetitive clicking noise. It will go for hours unless i either turn it back on or disconnect it from the elec/battery. So need less to say, we had to sleep in cold, as the clicking noise was just too much to for sleeping.

any help would be appreciative. I plan on taking it in this coming weekend.

I have experienced this with Dometic A/C systems and atwood furnaces.

Couple questions, was it a slow clicking on and off, (most likely coming from the overhead ac) or a fast clicking that had a few seconds pause in between coming from the furnace?

Do you have the dometic 3 button thermostat?

I found this info on another forum that explains the operating procedure. Sounds like yours is sparking when the T-Stat is off. Could be the control board. Perhaps someone else knows how to troubleshoot these furnaces and will pipe up.

When the T-Stat calls for heat the control board starts the blower
The blower blows closing the sail switch
The control board then opens the gas valve and begins sparking
Gas Flows And ignites
The flame heats the flame sensor
The flame sensor sends .480 volts to the control board
which then detects the .480 and continues operation
When the T-stat says "Enough already" (RV is now warm)
The control board shuts off the gas flow
and then turns off the blower after a cool down

Based on your response, I have to agree that it is most likely a board issue. You cannot change out just the igniter on the board unfortunately.

A new board is about $90

You can have a shop trouble shoot the issue to give you a definitive answer, or replace parts yourself. Very easy to work on if you have the model with an outside access door.

So spend $90 and swap a board, or spend some of that for them to tell you exactly whats wrong with it.

If anyone lives near you perhaps they could lend a hand as well- I'm a little too far away to take a look ...
