We have a fellow with a three year old travel trailer and he just recently tried to light the pilot on the oven and it won't stay lit. Of course, he changed the thermo coupling and the bloody thing still won't light. The stove top works fine.
Here is the model # - Atwood Wedgewood vision, Model R-V1733BBP R
RV Wizard any idea's, or anybody, please?
Thanks,

If everything checks out. On older ovens turn control knob to temp. I find that makes it easer to lite the pilot ?

If he change igniter as you say may have to light a few times to purge the air in tubes. If it still does not work may have to see if line has a bend in it stopping full flow of gas.
Has oven ever worked since new?

He should check the main LP gas regulator to be sure his system is running at 11" water column. Usually I find that it is low and by turning it up the pilot for the oven will hold. This 11" is not what the range works on; it has its own regulator that is usually around 9 - 9.5 "

Mike-
Thanks for the response.
I looked at the regulator, it doesnt look adjustable to me.
I can take a picture and post it, maybe it'll give you a clue to the set up.
He said the oven worked once, but the pilot is hard to light, or no light. The oven is brand new inside.
Let me know--

Max, the working pressure needs to be checked to be sure it is at 11" W.C. There is probably a plastic plug protecting the adjustment screw. If the regulator is not adjustable and it is not 11" then a new one that is 11" needs to be installed before proceeding with the oven issue.

It may just be that he is not applying enough heat to the pilot lighter, or maybe not for long enough. They can be fussy and tend to go out until it heats through. A gas lighter works much better than a match.
If in doubt about the main LP regulator, replace it. Only about $20 and available in most hardware stores or LP suppliers.

Thanks for everybody's input--
I got it working this morning. This is almost a brand new unit. I found the problem after I went to Atwood's PDF for the 33 Series of gas stove/ovens.
Here are some pics I took- Maybe it will help somebody else down the road-
Look at the crooked angle the oven knob is to the front face plate- . It should be parallel to the faceplate.
The stupid manifold is "BENT" away from the face plate. Therefore you could not "PUSH" the Oven knob in far enough (to make the magnetic connection) to get the gas to flow to the pilot. The answer is simple- reposition the manifold (or bend that square tube straight- - which you probably couldn't do because the oven controller is much larger than the other stove knobs are), or put a small spacer inside the knob to move it outward a small amount. If one (me) would have just removed the oven knob and gone through the light procedure all would have been okay.
Atwood apparently knows about this since one of their "fixes" for "pilot light won't light" is to re-position the oven knob further out away from the face plate-- Gimme a break Atwood!

Thanks Max! You cured my problem also! One quick question about repositioning the manifold. Is that possible by loosening the screw on the top of the square rail?

LeonV,
I could move the square manifold only slightly by the screw adjustment (and it did seem to work). That wasn't good enough for me. I then took small pieces of paper towel and shoved them into the end of the knob, a little at a time, until the knob stuck out farther from the face plate. Now it has about 1/32" clearance when it is fully depressed .
It still is cockeyed because of the design .
The root of the problem is an engineering one at Atwood. They could simply add a longer shaft to the oven control, although it would still be cockeyed.

Thanks for the info Max. I am going to try moving the manifold a bit and then will put something in the end of the knob.
Yep, not a good design. Maybe Atwood should hire engineers and testers. What a novel idea!
