My atwood range will not light. The pilot light works fine, but the range will not light. My guess is the thermocouple is bad or the whole range switch is bad. Any suggestions?

When you say pilot light, I take it to be the one inside the oven at the burner? When you get the pilot lit, and you turn up the oven temperature does the pilot increase in size? Is the increased flame making good contact with the thermocouple of the safety valve? If so you could have a bad valve. If the lp gas pressue is too low you may not have enough of an uincrease to alow the safety valve to open, bringing on the main burner.

The pilot light is in good contact with the thermocouple. But once you start moving the knob off pilot the pilot goes out. It looks to me that I'm not getting any propane to burner. So my guess is the thermocouple is not releasing the safety valve to allow propane to flow. I don't think it's a gas pressure problem since we haven't had any trouble in the past. But if it is how do I increase the pressure to check it? Thanks

falcon88, can you supply me with a model #? I will look up the service manual for this unit and see if I can get you some thing to check. Do not attempt to adjust the lp gas regulator.
