Atwood WaterHeater in a 2007 Monaco Knight DFT

I understand that access to the water heating element is from the back of the heater. My question is "How do you access this in my model coach? I only have a small access door to the back that won't permit enough space to replace the element. Must the whole heater be removed?

Not sure what yours is like, but the element might fit in that small hole.
Happy Glamping.

Electric element is installed in the back of WH Tank under the black protective cover at bottom.
Also inside that cover is the 12V DC relay with 120V AC wiring from relay to element

Element is a 120V AC 1400W element that screws into tank and is over 10" in length
Need a thin walled 6 point 1 1/2" socket (or element wrench) to R/R element
PITA when you have direct access.......

Some MH Mfgs have unique access .....side panel, underneath panel etc
Some you have to remove water heater.

In my 2008 Knight DFT there is a small access panel in passenger side rear cargo bay next to water filter. very small you may have to pull water heart for complete access

Many thanks to all. Looks like I would have to pull the heater from the coach to replace the element.. Side access door is just too small to permit wrenching.
