My 2004 Dutch Star does not have the auto start feature. I was told that it is wired for auto start and can be added. Has any one changed over to auto-start?

d.polka, welcome to iRV2.com. We are glad to have you join us here and look forward to reading of your adventures and expereinces. What inverter do ou have in the coach. Most of the time a remote control panel addition is all that is needed for auto gen start for the batteries. If you are looking at having the air temperature bring on the generator then you may have to go about it a little differently. Let us know what you want to do and we can all help with figuring it out.

Onan sells an Auto Gen Start (AGS) system --- the Onan Energy Command EC-30. Here is a link to their website.

It will start the generator when shore power fails and there is a call for air conditioning. It will also start when the batteries need a charge.

I have installed one in my coach as a safety system so as to not 'cook the pooches'.

Dale, let me do a little homework and I will get back to you. Another remote I think has the auto function - can't remember the model though.

Dale, the RC/GS remote control panel has the generator start function that you can change yours out to. The generator start control wiring will have to be tied to the inverter system. When the voltage of the battery bank is drained to a set point it will start the generator if you have it programmed to.

Dale & Lou,

Just buy our coach to get auto start.

It's at LT getting the deer strike fixed now.
