Aux battery only activating when rig is running

Hi all,
Just replaced house battery in Tioga 31M.
If this is an simple answer or fix I apologize.
Aux battery switch/ battery only activating when rig is running.
Should it not activate be able to be used when rig is completely powerless?

You are correct, it should work when the coach battery is too low to start the engine. I suspect a wires is not in the right place. Hopefully you took a picture of the battery wiring prior to removing to install the new battery.
