Cool Awning Screen Won't Lower

Growing pains in our "new to us" 2010 Allegro Bus 36QSP... The patio awning extends just fine. When it gets to the end of its extension, there is a screen which opposed to lower if you keep the switch in "Extend". When I try that, there is an unpleasant grinding sound, and the shade drops a few inches and stops, while the grinding/chattering sound continues. I stopped very quickly because it seemed that the screen was bound up inside the causing, and I fear that trying any more will damage either the screen or the mechanism or both.
It fortunately retracted properly, and main awning retraction was normal.
Has anyone experienced this situation, and have you found a solution?

If it is wet, it will stick to the "roller". Leave it open for a while. When it is dry a little breeze will bring it down.
The grinding is a concern. Avoid extending it that far if you can.

Do you have the screen that zips onto the flap? We thought it would be handy but have never used it. Taking up space.

Awning Screen Won't Lower

Thanks for the tip. Nope... Don't have a zip-on. Don't really know WHAT I have,
since the rig is new to us, and we've not been able to get the screen to lower correctly. It's not addressed in the Bus Manual, but maybe there's some Dometic documentation in the mountain of manuals up in the coach. It's been raining, and I haven't felt like braving the elements to dig it up.

I had the same setup in a 2009 40wrp. I had to pull the screen down by hand while depressing the extend switch, I had a remote control. Be careful not to continue holding the extend button once it is at full extension, if the limit switch is not set correctly it will wrap up backwards. I loved the screen but it is temperamental.
