I have a 1998 miniwini DL and my brass valve check wore out. I replaced with an after market valve check but I hardly get any hot water. I can not shower in the RV due to the lack of hot water. What can I do?
Sincerely, Gil

ruylopez, welcome to iRV2.com. We are glad to have you join us here and we look forward to reading of your adventures and experiences.
If you turn on the hot valve in the shower, does it flow well? If the flow is poor I would think the check valve is the culprit. It is either bad or installed backwards. If you have good flow, make sure the by-pass is set correct. You wan the water (cold) to flow into the water heater at the bottom and the hot water to flow out of the top. The interconnecting valve should be closed between the hot out and the cold in. Let us know what you find.

No flow to the shower. backflow valve in correct position, and bypass valve in correct position. I ordered the original brass one on-line. I believe their is a defect in the aftermarket valve

Stopped in a rest area y'day and found the hot water wouldn't flow. Cold OK. We decided to go on to Salina but saw a RV service (4 Seasons in Abilene, KS).
Stopped in and they got right on it. We were out in a bit over 2 hours. One hr. labor plus part. Very pleased.

Most water heaters have 2 check valves. One on the inlet side that prevents hot water from returning to the supply tank/inlet, and a second on the outlet side that prevents cold water from being forced back into the heater.
I would check to see whether you have both valves, and if so that both are operating properly. Here's a link to the online plumbing diagrams on the Winnebago website: http://www.winnebagoind.com/diagram/Plumbing.htm

Thanks for the information. I will check for a second backflow valve this Saturday when I go back to Devils Lake. I hope the fishing is good.
Thanks again, Gil

Thank you for repling. I purchased the original Brass valve online. I am going up to my RV in Spirt Lake (Devils Lake) and I will change out the valve and see if the original works. wish me luck.
