My back up monitor has quit working. I found an in-line fuse and it was blown. The replacement fuse lasted maybe 30 seconds and it blew. For those few seconds while I had any video, it was first horizontal noisy lines, then settled to about a half wide picture before the fuse blew. Is my monitor shot, or is there some further troubleshooting I could reasonably do? If I disconnect the camera and again replace the fuse, would I see/hear anything on the monitor to let me know the camera was at fault instead of the monitor?...assuming the fuse didn't immediately blow again...which would point back to the monitor. Any suggestions short of a replacement?

Ken, it does sound like the monitor has bit the dust. The only thing you could do short of replacment would be to have a good tv repair shop that needed the work and would at least look at it for a free estimate to repair. I have sent out things before and was suprised to find out how resoanble some shops could be. Be sure to take the camera also.

Mike, while on the subject of back up cameras, I have a problem with mine. Everything seems to work just great until I put the motorhome into reverse gear. The picture on the monitor then goes away, but the monitor screen stays lit up.
It just started doing this recently, and has always worked perfectly. It is a black and white unit, and came as standard equipment with my Allegro. Sounds like wiring maybe? Any of your expert advise would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dieselclacker

Dieseclacker, the monitors are set up to come on when the reverse gear is selected. I would check to see if you have this circuit powering up and also a good ground feeding the monitor. If you do, then you could have an internal problem in the monitor.

Mike,

Thanks for the reply. Are there still TV repair shops out there? I thought TV's had become throw-aways. I worked on them back when tubes were still around, but not for a long time now. I'll look around, but most likely replace.

Also a backup camera problem. Have a 2001 Winnebago Brave, F53 chassis. Stopped working all together next time in reverse. Checked fuse on rear of monitor. Is there a 2nd. fuse in fuse panel somewhere? Also where is switch located that is activated when put into reverse?

Thanks

Ken L.

Ken, you will have another fued circuit feedinng the monittor from the chassis. It could be on the same circuit as the cigarette lighter. First check to be sure you have 12 volt at the fuse, then check to be sure you have a good ground. GOod luck and keep us posted.

I have a black and white monitor and camera I took out of my rig right after I bought it. It's free if anyone wants to pay for shipping....

Sarge,
If no one beat me, I'll take your monitor system. I just told my wife last night we have to get ours replaced before we go to Perrin. Let me know what info you need from me, if it's still available.

Sarge,

If still available, we'll take the monitor system. I think I sent a PM.

OK< I'm on vacation this week and the computer is acting weird. I don't know what I sent, but count me in....
