Bad Amish unit

I installed the Amish Cooling Unit (CU) last summer. Worked like a million bucks with or without cooling fans. Not doing nearly so well now.

Late last fall, without fans running, I got a "No Co" error code. Turned reefer Off/On and turned on fans. Worked fine with fans running till today.

It's about 90 outside and reefer was cooling real well yesterday. Sometime last night the reefer shut down. Code of "NoCo". This is on AC. Haven't tried on propane.

Both heater elements are working. Both Amish supplied fans are running.

Has anyone else had this problem and solved it?

Again turned reefer Off/On and the unit is struggling to do much. Added another fan at bottom of CU. Waiting to see if it shuts down again.

Keith,

Might not be the cooling unit. Kind of sounds like a problem with the control circuit to me. i would think the cooling would either work or not work. i'm not sure how to check it but maybe someone can tell you how to check the temperature thermistor on the cooling fins in the refrigerator, and possibly a way to check the control board. I don't know how you feel about making a jumper wire for the heaters, then plugging them into a 120V AC supply. but I would think if you did that and the refrigerator starting cooling correctly you would know the cooling unit was OK. Just a thought.

I just watched some boring videos by Ford RV refrigeration. That is exactly how he recommends testing your cooling unit. Disconnect the 12 volt connection to the fridge. Then disconnect the 110 volt wires at the element (s). Make up a cord with a male 110 volt plug at one end and spade connectors at the other. Plug the fridge into the wall outlet and after 24 hours the fridge should be 32 degrees or colder. Do not open the doors at any time! Of course this is assuming the element is good and is the correct wattage. As long as there is good airflow across the back of the fridge if the fridge is cold it is a control problem.

I agree with moisheh and others regarding a possible control board issue.

Also, moisheh's method is the best when testing unless you want to try a new control board without troubleshooting.
