I presently have two 12v batteries connected to support my coach. These are connected in Parallel.

If I wanted to move to 6v batteries in Series, would my existing cables work, be long enough etc., to accomplish a Series install, or would I require an additional cost to lenghten cables to make it work?

What is the experience of our members?

I'm no expert, but I suppose it depends on your setup.

All that is involved in converting to 6v in series is connecting the coach's positive cable to the positive post of one battery, and the negative cable to the negative of the other battery, and another cable to connect the negative and positives together.

Stock, my 5er's cables connect to the upper 12v battery, and a pair of cables go from that connection to the bottom battery. Since the 5er's cables are long enough to reach the bottom battery tray, they wouldn't require modification or lengthening to make the switch. (Which I will do when the current 12v's bite the dust).

Anyhow, you would just have to take a look to see if you will need one of the cables longer...

I was able to make ours work with the existing cable lengths when we changed from 2 12 volts to 2 6 volt trojans. It will depend on the geometry.

Well, the two six volt batteries will sit in the same battery compartment as the two twelve volt batteries. Much depends on how much free cable you have now. Looking at the pic below you can see where the cables have to reach to.

Two six volt batteries hooked up in "series"
