Battery Lug Ring Size

Hello,

I'm in the process of upgrading my battery bank from 2 group 24 batteries to 2 6 volts, one of the 24s is not holding a charge. Bought 2/0 gauge wire to connect the two. My friend offered me two copper battery lugs that would fit the wire, but the ring size is 3/8". Having a hard time finding lugs that would fit 2/0 gauge wire locally with a ring size of 1/4", want to go camping soon and don't want to wait for delivery.

When I tried to screw the lugs onto the terminal, there is a big gap but still contact with the terminals. If I went with these lugs, would there be a noticeable voltage loss?

Thanks!

It will be fine. You can use a stainless steel or bronze washer above the terminal but don't use any below.

Just a point, all of the batteries I have seen are either 5/16 or 3/8 studs.

Wow that was a quick response. Thanks! Puts my mind at ease, tend to worry too much about anything electrical.
