Battery Voltage question
I have a display readout of the house battery voltage on my Challenger. It usually shows 13.6 or 13.7 volts with shore power connected. However, every few days I notice it goes to 14.2 to 14.4 volts for several hours. What could be causing this? Is the Convertor deciding that the batteries need a boost?

Some chargers have an anti-sulfation cycle where the village wanders high then back then high them back. You may have that feature (a good one IMO) and be seeing the high voltage.

Hi Bruce
There are three stages to your converter. Here is a chart.
What you're seeing is the boost mode which is normal , as it gets the battery back up when needed. I think

Thanks Cliff. I'd heard the term Three Stage Converter but hadn't stopped to figure what it meant.

My PD9200 Series does this. Every 24 hrs it switches to Boost mode (14.2v) for 20mins to "boil" the battery to prevent sulfation. It's plugged in 24/7, so it's usually on float mode at 13.2v.

That makes sense. Now I understand, thanks!
