We bought a 2002 Southwind with kwikee series 32 double steps, the bad news was the steps were bent, The steps seem to move as they should when the door is opened and closed unfortuately they do not retract completely on thier own, they will with slight inward pressure which can't be done from inside. The Frame is still bent and I want to replace the frame , but my concern is that after replacing the frame will I find out the the motor /gear box will not pull the new frame up all the way. There does not appear to be any strange noises or grinding sounds and seems like it would be a fairly simple change over and cheaper than replacing the whole step, but Changing the whole thing may be cheaper in the long run.I understand Kwikee has changed the set up on the newer style will this be a problem ? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Lube the pivot points of the step with lithium spray lube. Work it in and it will operate fine. Pretty common.

I have found that lubrication solves a multitude of problems.
