It seems I need to start looking for a replacement for my OEM Shurflo water pump. It has started to allow water from my shore connection to flow into my water tank causing it to leak out the overflow tube (at the rate of approximately a drip a second), and when I am off the shore water line connection and I leave the water pump on I notice it periodically comes on momentarily to re-pressurize the system (now at about every 15 minutes) which it hadn't done before. I can't help but thinking it is about time to replace it. (I do use a water regulator on my shore connection, plus the well water pressure where I am has been turned down due to the drought we are in.)
What are my options other than replacing with the same type of Shurflo direct replacement? Any suggestions or experiences with these newer pumps would be very helpful.
TIA

I'm in the same boat HitchHiker. I think I will go with another SureFlow but not sure which model. I am looking for something more quiet than the OEM model. It sounds like a jackhammer and seems to cycle too often. Maybe a tank to go with it? Good luck to us both.

I always thought I would like to upgrade to the large flow (I think around 5gpm) SureFlow pump. Then I began to wonder if 5gpm would flow water faster than my HWH can heat it up. I am curious to see what kind of responses come up on this thread.

You first want to be sure the pump is defective, otherwise replacement may render the same results. Do you by chance have a valve that can be turned to fill the fresh water tank from the city water connection? These have caused the scenario you state as well as a bad pump can. If the pump is indeed bad then the next question will be how do you use your coach and fresh water system? If you are a boon docker you may not want as much water flow as someone that has full hooks up might. If you are looking for quite then there are pumps and installation procedure that can get you that too. Even with the pump you now have many times the manufacturer of the coach skimps on making a quite install.

If you find you still need a new pump, we went with the Shurflo Extreme Series 4.0 and are very happy with it. It has more water flow than our OEM Shurflo did. I also added in an accumulator tank and that helps in demand kicking the pump on and off.
Some have said no accumulator tank should be used with these pumps but we have not had any problems in close to two years.
