Black tank level gauge

2008 winnebago tour black tank gauge always shows empty. I have run cleaner in it and also driven with the cleaner in it to flush things around. How do I find where the gauge is at on the tank?

Have you tried filling the tank with a hose until you can see it and then see what the gauge reads?

was reading a lot online abt cleaning gauges, seems 1 cup calgon mixed with a few gals of water poured into toilet, will help clean gauges, (NOT TO BE USED IN FRESH WATER TANK). AN coats the side walls so nothing sticks to it. just like a salt water system in house. you feel slippery when u wash up with soft water.

The most commonly used tank gauges are probes that extend through the tank wall at various depths. The probe providing the common contact will be at the bottom, then there will be 3 or 4 more up the side of the tank. When there is conductivity between the bottom probe and the the second one up, your gauge should read 1/4 or 1/3, depending on how many probes there are. Conductivity between the bottom and all the probes should give you a reading of full. Look for screws sticking out from the wall of the tank with wires attached.

Debris that hangs on the tank walls and on the probes will give false readings. Usually the tank reads 1/4 or 1/2 full even when it's empty rather than empty when it's full. If the tank reads empty when it's partially full, it may be because the wire has become detached from the bottom probe on your tank.

I don't even bother with the gauge on the black tank. I just look down the toilet with a flashlight when I want to know how full the black tank is.
