Boondocking and macerater toilets?

Correct me if i am wrong here. Typically a bath and a half Motorhome will have a gravity from toilet in the mid bathroom and a macerater toilet in the rear bath. And A macerater toilet requires power and uses more water, correct?

So boondockers, how do you use macerater toilets?

unsuccessfully - not to mention the big time additional water consumption.

Serious (and i mean the nutty type) boon dockers have simpler setups - like composting toilets Which can be a stand alone unit, indoors or out I assume.

When we dry camp at the beach or NASCAR we do not use the macerator toilet due to water consumption. I have been meaning to adjust the amount of water used for normal use as it uses an enormous amount of water.

I only have 1 toilet (with a macerator) in my MH and was unaware of the addition water consumption. How much are we talking about? I'm able to fill the bowl as much (or as little) as I choose during the flush. Is there more consumption that I'm unaware of? I prefer dry camping so I have a new found concern.

Thanks much for the info!
