This is a older unit it was working fine during our recent trip - but then stopped. Any ideas? Is this a major issue?

Most likely the fan motor is shot. It is woth the investment to bring it to an AC shop and have the whole unit checked. Could be a dirt build up and if so your condesor may also be dirty.

Could be a locked rotor in the compressor or the fan or something as simple & inexpensive as a motor start capacitor.
