Budget AGM 6 volt house battery recommendations

Hi,

Is there such a thing as budget AGM's?
If so what brands are they?

Thanks,

I've read of people getting deals on used telecom battery banks. They're changed on a schedule with plenty of life left. Otherwise AGM are expensive new.

Hi Vince,

The Duracell from Sams club are out of stock.

I am probably going to have to replace the batteries sooner than later. My existing ones were purchased by the previous owner in I think 2014, I recall seeing a receipt somewhere but can not find it.

My battery location is under the step so removal for storage in a pain, also getting at them for maintaince is next to impossible, hence moving to AGM's.

I also do not have power at storage but the manager is going to move me close to a bay with a 15amp receptacle, I may not be able to plugged in 24/7 but can do so for a day every few weeks.

I like the idea of not performing maintenance on batteries.

1stMH-

Well-cared-for batteries should last longer than 3 or 4 years.

If you cannot keep a float charge on batteries, best practice is to fully-charge them and then disconnect the ground lead. There are connectors (example here) that make this easy to do.

If your coach has a Magnum inverter, then a second connector is needed in the positive lead, and the positive lead must be disconnected before the negative lead. Confirm with the Magnum inverter manual.

Hi Mark,

Its my own fault, in the 20 months I have had the coach
I did not perform any maintaince.

I aee this as an opportunity to upgrade to 4 AGM's, I just started a new thread on this. I don't have power at the storage but the manager is moving me to one that has access to a receptacle.

That disconnect switch is exactly what I want for both house batteries and my chassis battery.

Thanks,

Based on comment "disconnect + first" - I read my Magnum 1800 manual. It says disconnect negative first. SO I guess everyone should check manual before working on batteries.

Good advice - C.Martin alerted me and my manual didn't specify but when I checked w/ Magnum they confirmed the warning to Disconnect + First and connect Last.

Most Magnum units specify Connection Neg First and replacing Fuse on Pos Last
Disconnect is reverse order
