Hello All,
To respond to your questions above. Our 507FT or 507RV(Cap Style) ona steel or metal valve stem will not causes you any issues. When it comes to rubber valve stems like the above comment about the Mini, you can safely use our 507RV Cap Style Sensor, it is our ultra-light weight technology sensor and weighs on approx. 11 grams. I personally have a mini and have been running this sensor for 3 years on it. As long as your valve stems are not dry rotted or damaged you will not have any issues. If any of you have any additional questions do not hesitate to ask either on the forum or you can always call 770-889-9102 We are open 7 days a week until midnight daily eastern time
Thanks

Mike - Thanks for the info. I have your system on my Sprinter van. It's a great system and your customer service is top notch. I have the metal dually valves on my van - no issues after 15,000 miles and driving on some pretty rough roads in Alaska this summer.

One van converter learned the hard way that screw-on cap sensors will not work on stock Sprinter rubber valve stems. It was Advanced RV, but I'm not sure which TPMS they are installing. After some owners had failures that have upgraded all units to metal valve stems.

Mike, Thanks for the reply about the mini. I recently changed to the newer flow through system which I believe is the 507 and weighs approx 13 grams according to the TST website. Not to be argumentive about the rubber valve stems but it is interesting that the FAQ on the TST website says:
Do I need special valve stems?
No, you do not need special valve stems, but you do need commonly available metal valve stems.
The added weight of the sensor on a rubber valve stem could cause problems that will be avoided by using metal valve stems.
Most motorhomes and commercial transport vehicles come equipped with metal valve stems. If you do need metal valve stems, they are not expensive; a recent customer had 6 valve stems replaced on a 30’ gooseneck racing trailer for $36. They are available and can be quickly installed by any tire dealer.

I'll use them on my mini when towing - if a valve stem fails the system will send immediate alert to the receiver.
