Can't find the answers I need to the norcold recall problems...please help

Hello all I am a new member but have been reading lots of valuable information here over the last 3 months or so. SO much good advice, thank you all for making some of my problems a little easier and cheaper to fix!

Well here's my latest problem. I walked in the door this morning and hear beeping coming from the Norcold 1200LR. The code displayed was "HE" which I believe is the code for the A/C Heater unit thingie (can't remember the exact name now I apologize).

I called an RV tech and he told me to switch it over to propane to see if it would work that way or if I would still get a code. He also told me I could check the 2 fuses behind the panel to see if one or both had blown.

Both fuses were good but I went ahead and changed out the 5 amp fuse since I had them. The fridge is working fine on propane.

Can anyone please tell me what these particular symptoms mean please? Is this a symptom of the recall? I don't mean to sound cheap I would love to replace it but I'm on a very low fixed income due to disabilities that were work related.

Also my 3 dogs are always in the RV and I am now scared to death to leave them alone. Can you help please???

Thank you in advance,
Jerri (the female version lol)

Edited ~ One more question please. Is the control box the black plastic cover that goes over the circuit board? Ooops, another question...Is there a way to tell if the recall has been performed on mine? I bought this used 3 months ago and it's a 2001 model so I don't have any idea if it's been done. THanks again

If the recall control box had activated you wouldn't get cooling in any mode.

Thank you for the reply. I bought my 5th wheel used just a couple of months ago and I really don't think the recall has been done on this. If it doesn't have the new control box will it still work in LP mode?

I had never even heard of the recall until this morning

HE is a fault in refrigerator controls problem. Try a reset.

To reset the controls, shut off and then start the refrigerator.
- To turn off the refrigerator, push the ON / OFF button for two
seconds and then release.
- To turn on the refrigerator, push and release the ON / OFF
button.

Thank you coma for your reply. I tried that, several times in fact lol. I also found a thread here that told me how to reset the error code. Did that and it did reset...then came right back lol. Trying to laugh about it but it's getting harder to do

Post #9 in this thread shows how to reset an error code. It does work it's just my code cleared and came right back.

Welcome to irv2.
In this PDF page 15 are instructions for checking your heater element.
You will remove the connections off circuit board to test.
When you do that have some contact spray handy because you may just clean up the spade clips pulling off than reconnecting to clear your trouble.
If the fridge is working on gas you should not need a reset.
This link will give you all the info on the recall which you will find its up to version "F" I believe.
I had the first recall done and only recall done when the time comes will change out the cooling unit with a Amish unit which does not need any recall and works 100% better.

"007" has given you the correct source. Could just be a bad heater element, they're not too hard to replace. Just measure the Ohm's, there is a range that is acceptable.
Good Luck!
