I have a 1999 Fleetwood Tioga 29' class c. The refer quit so shop called and said can't get old one and the new one in unless they remove the van
( Ford ) passenger door and seat. Any suggestions out there. It is a Dometic.

That sounds about right. We had to take the windshield out to replace a fridge on a friends coach. This is a pretty common issue but you might want to take some measurements with the doors and/or cooling units removed to see if there is some way to get the unit through the door. If someone knows what they are doing, getting a window/door/seat out and back in again is a pretty quick deal so I would not lose any sleep over this if that is the only viable option.

Have they removed the doors and hinges from the frig and take it out sideways. It might fit that way....other wise you start removing windows or doors to get it out.

Would it be possible to replace just the cooling unit and not the refer? That can usually be done inside the mh.

That would be my choice, but most shops don't want to do that. Most won't even suggest it or tell you it can be done. They make a lot more money by just sticking in a new refrigerator.

mrgarlic-
Show this # 20 thread and the video made by a fellow irv2 member recently to the folks in the service center. If they can't do it, look someplace else for help.
Norcold 1200 conversion to Amish Cooling?
My cooling unit has been replaced twice while inside the unit. It's not a big deal for a competent tech.
Fear arises in the souls of service managers because of an inicident, somewhere, when a tech punctured the sealed unit while replacing a cooling unit inside the rig. It ruined the carpeting, and some furniture-

No kidding! I've been doing a bit of preshopping around for a residential fridge and when I tell the stores I've been to that the unit would have to go in through a window, they look at me like I'm nuts and say they can't do it. They also tell me they will not even deliver them up stairs. I politely inform them that they lost a sale. If I have to hire someone to get the thing into the TT, I'll order online.
