CHunley,

Checking capacitors is best done with a capacitor tester. But can be accomplished with an analog or dial type ohm meter.

The following information is from a Dometic Service Manual. It contains common information about testing capacitors.

Please use extreme caution when dealing with capacitors. They may still hold a charge!!!

Hope this helps.

IMO the only valid test of a capacitor for motor starting/running use is substitution. Too many variables for a simple low voltage test to be anything other than a very crude test for a complete failure.

Hey there all, just wanted to update the situation with the ac. The moderator gave a link, I printed the stuff out and went to the rv and followed the breakdown for troubleshooting. Led me to the thermostat, changed it (61.00) all is great. Thanks for the info.
