Carefree slide topper replace tube support

Our slide topper support failed and needs to be replaced. I am not sure how to replace the side with the spring tension. I attached a picture of the new kit, the damaged support and an undamaged one further back on the coach. I am thinking that it is as easy as loosening the bolts on the bracket and sliding out the support from the tube and replacing with the new part but I am unsure on how to stop the spring tension or how to put tension back in once it is loose. Anyone do this job before and have any pointers?

Lots of videos how to replace the fabric. Nothing on replacing the slideout cover supports. I was finally able to get a good look at it and I found the instruction manual which make it look easy. Thanks for your reply.
