Central vacume system

First use of the central vac was normal. Since then the system will not shut off unless I disconnect the power.

A brand and even model would help. It is probably the switch that the hose plugs into is defective and must be replaced.

It is most likely caused by the switch in one of the vacuum hose ports or the sweeper port being stuck open. There is a small push button on the hose connection doors and "sweep" door that open/close an on/off switch. All of these switches are connected in parallel, so any switch will enable the central vac motor. Check all of the doors and ensure they are closeing completely. If you can access the rear of the various hose ports you should be able to determine which one is the problem. Good luck.
