Has anyone found a source for the elusive RV Battery Hold Down Clips.

Here's a pic of the clips! They are not your usual battery hold down bracket/frame!

After visiting Auto Zone, Car Quest, NAPA, two RV Stores, a Battery Shop and several golf cart centers I've come up empty handed in my attempt to secure replacements for the OEM parts. For the time being I've wire brushed and painted the originals. They are steel and had a plastic coating which was falling off.

If all else fails I'll fab some replacements from stainless steel which will eliminate the need for any protective coating.

Hi bob109,
My sources also came up with nothing like what you show. It looks like you've done a great job restoring the clips. They should last a long time.

Thanks for your post. I thought I was the only one having trouble finding a source for these clamps. I have a friend who is making me a couple replacements. They appear easy to make so we will see how it goes. If they work out let me know if you need him to make more. He did mention dipping them in some special liquid to counteract the possibility of acid erosion.

I had a couple get corroded so bad they are unusable.

Bob,

Do you by any chance belong to the Discovery Owners Association , Inc (DOIA).

Just curious since I have learned a tremendous amount about our Discovery in a very short time by watching the Forums.

POR-15 does a great job preserving metal like this around battery boxes including the battery tray.

If your friend has access to stainless steel it would be the best material for making the clips. There is virtually no worry of battery acid eating the clips away.

I'm not a member of that forum! I like the fact that iRV2 is free and, in my opinion, has a wider owner knowledge base i.e. chassis, drive trains, engines and RV related components than other forums.
