I have a Coleman Mach 3 rooftop ductless air conditioner. It is not one of the new Mach 3 PS or Plus. It is on a 1991 coach. The moedel number is 6759-807.

When I got the unit there was no filter installed. I can not seem to locate a filter for it. I had thought of buying some filter material and cutting it to fit but I do not see any way to secure the filter in the housing. I called PPL and they said the filter would just lay in the housing. I think the material will get sucked up if it was not secure.

So does anyone know of a filter that will fit? And how to secure it in the housing?

The grill is almost identical to the picture below. I do not have those metal straps that are pictured though.

The filter media is thicker than the thin foam. There was wire retainers to keep the original filter in place. You can use velcro tape with adhesive backing to secure the thin media. Some hardware stores carry the universal thick media filters that can be cut to size.

I still have the wire "clips" that came with mine. I have replaced my filters. I simply when to Lowes (because that was what was in the town we were in at the time), wandered down the furnace filters aisle and picked out a "universal" cut-to-fit filter. It looks like a huge green 3M Scotchbrite pad. I took out the previous filters (beat out the dust) and used them as a pattern to cut two new filters. The filters are only on the sides... the center piece is just insulation. You could just use a couple of paper binder clips (can be bought in the office supply section of WalMart or any office supply store). Clip the metal binder part on the plastic piece that the metal wire clips onto, then flip the "legs" down to help hold the filter in place. My metal wires do not hold onto the frame very securely.

Thanks for the replies.

I was at HD yesterday and saw the stiff green stuff but it seemed a bit thick and course. I was expecting more of the black/gray filter sponge type stuff.

I will be making my own filter in the next few days.

Thanks again.
